Principle:
The Cromatest VDRL MR Ag Test Kit is a specialized VDRL test designed to work with serum, plasma, or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The VDRL Antigen MR is a non-treponemal preparation specifically developed for the rapid detection and semi-quantification of plasma reagins—antibodies directed against tissue components produced by nearly all patients infected with T. pallidum—via flocculation on a slide.
The assay is performed by testing the antigen—a complex of lipids and choline chloride—against non-inactivated samples. The presence or absence of visible agglutination indicates whether circulating antibodies are present in the tested sample.
